Finding a Theme

November 2, 2007 | By | No Comments

I updated my MySpace page the other night, so it is now 70% less sucky. I guess that makes me cool…if it were still 2005. I don’t mind, I’m a keyboard player; we’re not supposed to be cool, just somewhat geeky and punctual.

I had a hell of a time finding a good piano-related theme, though. Guitar players have it easy: There are Fender-related themes, old-timey-looking bluegrass themes, and I’m pretty sure I could find a Gibson Flying-V without too much trouble. But the piano themes all look a little…pretty, you know? There are roses & lace everywhere, and what’s with the unicorn?? Geez, not all of us played piano in a department store for Christ’s sake. Luckily, the theme I found might even make Tom Waits spit up and take notice. I still need to add some more music, but it’s coming along. I’m thinking of adding my new song, “Unicorns & Roses.” Just kidding, but I’ll tell you what: If I did write a song called “Unicorns & Roses,” it would be about a real bad-ass unicorn, who eats the roses, rampages through Dayton’s trampling Santa Bears, then carves my name into the side of the piano with his horn. And baby, that ain’t easy, ’cause EVERYBODY mis-spells my name! OK, that might be a little much, but my point is…well, I didn’t really have a point. I’m just glad I was able to polish off some of the lame from my site. Anyway, you can check it out at

Oh, and in follow-up to my Halloween post; everything turned out great! The neighbor kids had cool costumes and we got to meet some of our new neighbors. The best part? Looks like the whole Austin Powers Costume Fad may finally be behind us. And that, my friends, made this the bestest Halloween of the 21st Century. God Bless Us, Everyone.

That’s right, it’s Halloween, and in honor of this, our most sacred of holidays, I bid you a heartfelt, “Bluh!” (OK, that was supposed to be my Dracula impersonation. It actually…makes more sense in person…you know what, never mind!) Read More

A Very Very Very Fine Place To Live

September 21, 2007 | By | No Comments

Patty & I have been in our new house for a few months now. We’ve managed to unpack most of our moving boxes and make it an actual “home.” We’ve also contributed an obscene number of cardboard boxes to the local recycling effort. I wasn’t keen on parting with the boxes, though; a musician should never discard a possible future living space. Read More

Moving Week

June 25, 2007 | By | No Comments

I need to apologize to the two people who actually read this blog for not posting much lately. Aside from our vacation in Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast, Patty and I have been in a state of disarray lately. We managed to sell our house much more quickly than we anticipated. (I guess that’s what happens when you sell it for a box of Fig Newtons and a six-pack of Bud.) Read More

We’re on Vacation!

Yeah, I can’t believe it either. Patty and I are taking a much-needed trip to Vancouver, British Columbia. We’ve started a vacation blog at:

Check it out! And no, we’re not taking the dogs…like I said, it’s a vacation!

Orange Pie

February 8, 2007 | By | No Comments

Patty made a great apple pie yesterday. It’s perfect; the crust is flaky, the apples are that slightly tart flavor that I like and it goes perfect with vanilla ice cream…pretty much everything I look for in an apple pie. I don’t know how she does it: She can whip up something in the kitchen on a moments notice and it’s always amazing. Me, on the other hand, I’m more of a Cheerios-pouring, Fig Newton wrapper-opening, last cookie-eating kind of chef. I think a kitchen should be admired from afar for its neatness and ability to store Doritos and sporks somewhere other than the floor. Oh, and the fridge belongs there too. Read More

No Carcass For You…

January 2, 2007 | By | No Comments

Well, I’m happy to say that no squirrels, rabbits, bison, or other small mammals have turned up dead this morning thanks to our dogs. I’ll let you know if anything changes.
