Finding a Theme

November 2, 2007 | By | No Comments

I updated my MySpace page the other night, so it is now 70% less sucky. I guess that makes me cool…if it were still 2005. I don’t mind, I’m a keyboard player; we’re not supposed to be cool, just somewhat geeky and punctual.

I had a hell of a time finding a good piano-related theme, though. Guitar players have it easy: There are Fender-related themes, old-timey-looking bluegrass themes, and I’m pretty sure I could find a Gibson Flying-V without too much trouble. But the piano themes all look a little…pretty, you know? There are roses & lace everywhere, and what’s with the unicorn?? Geez, not all of us played piano in a department store for Christ’s sake. Luckily, the theme I found might even make Tom Waits spit up and take notice. I still need to add some more music, but it’s coming along. I’m thinking of adding my new song, “Unicorns & Roses.” Just kidding, but I’ll tell you what: If I did write a song called “Unicorns & Roses,” it would be about a real bad-ass unicorn, who eats the roses, rampages through Dayton’s trampling Santa Bears, then carves my name into the side of the piano with his horn. And baby, that ain’t easy, ’cause EVERYBODY mis-spells my name! OK, that might be a little much, but my point is…well, I didn’t really have a point. I’m just glad I was able to polish off some of the lame from my site. Anyway, you can check it out at www.myspace.com/chrisschuette.

Oh, and in follow-up to my Halloween post; everything turned out great! The neighbor kids had cool costumes and we got to meet some of our new neighbors. The best part? Looks like the whole Austin Powers Costume Fad may finally be behind us. And that, my friends, made this the bestest Halloween of the 21st Century. God Bless Us, Everyone.
